Competed in Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen-Miss America System - What made you decide to compete in Miss [insert state here] USA 2016?
I competed in The University of Mississippi’s Parade of Beauties pageant and placed top ten out of ninety-six ladies. After achieving this, I was informed about the USA system. I became interested in Miss Mississippi USA and decided to compete after the Parade of Beauties pageant that was in February. I know that I have the confidence, poise, and personality to compete seriously for my state prelim. I am very excited and honored to represent Oxford, Mississippi at the Miss Mississippi USA pageant in October. - Outside of competing in pageants, what do you like to do for fun?
- Give a brief bio about yourself. Include where you are attending school (include year and major if applicable), your future goals, etc. (Feel free to include however much or little as you like in this section)
My name is Olivia Smith, Miss Oxford USA 2016! I am a twenty-year-old sophomore attending the University of Mississippi. I am majoring in psychology in hopes to one day create miracles for children. My future goal is to become a professional model that excels in the fashion industry. - If you win your state title, what do you hope to accomplish throughout your reign?
I would like to travel to every school in the state of Mississippi to discuss confidence and self-worth to children. As a child, I struggled with assurance of myself. I was verbally bullied about the appearance of how thin my body was. I became angry and unwanted until my parents became the role models of my life and taught me the principles of overcoming obstacles and pursuing my ultimate dreams. I desire to advise children to take a tough situation and make it beautiful. - What is your dream job (besides being Miss USA, of course!)
I plan work as a child-life specialist for a Children’s Miracle Network hospital. I hope to give back the time and effort that was graciously given to me as a child during the time I spent here. During this experience, I endured a chest tube surgery to combat three types of pneumonia that was destroying my body. Without my outstanding child life specialist who inspired me to never give up and shoot for the stars, I would not be the strong young lady I am today. As for now, I plan to pursue my dream in professional modeling in New York City. I have always dreamed of becoming a high fashion model. I enjoy fashion, photography, and design. My ultimate dream job would be to have the honor of achieving the prestigious title of Miss USA and serving the United States with my heart for volunteering, helping others, and soaring in the fashion industry.
