Amy Garcia will be competing for the title of Miss Texas USA 2018 on Labor Day Weekend in September. Miss Texas USA marks the beginning of the 2018 State Pageant Season. I look forward to watching Amy and all of the other gorgeous Texas women take the stage and see who captures the most prestigious crown in Texas! Good luck Amy!!!!!
How many pageants have you previously competed in?
I have only been in one other pageant. I'm not sure what the system was but it was not the USA system. The pageant was for Miss Fort Worth 2012 and I did not place.
What made you decide to compete in Miss Texas USA 2018?
The reasoning behind why I decided to compete for Miss Texas USA 2018 is because why not? This has always been one of my dreams for some time now and I want to at least say I worked hard and I did my best. I also want to encourage other girls, especially from Parker County, to go out and work for their dreams and to not let anything or anyone get in the way of it.
Outside of competing in pageants, what do you like to do for fun?
Outside of competing for pageants, I love dancing, modeling, spending time with my friends and family and taking care/teaching kids.
Give a brief bio about yourself.
My name is Amy Garcia, I am 20 years old and from Parker County, Texas. I am Texan born and raised and have lived in the Parker County area all my life. I am a mixed Latina, half Mexican and half Guatemalan and I am very proud to be apart of the Hispanic culture. I am currently a junior at Tarleton State University and my major is bilingual elementary education. I will hopefully be graduating by next December of 2018. Since I was little I have always been interested in modeling and pageants so I plan to continue to persue along with my teaching career and see where life takes me.
If you win your state title, what do you hope to accomplish throughout your reign?
If I win my state title, I want to focus on advocating the importance of education especially to young women. I also want to help advise, find, or create programs that help students especially low income students be more aware of the help they can get concerning college and that it is possible. Another thing very important to me that I would want to accomplish as Miss Texas would be to help the homeless and hungry in my state with and however I can, whether that be my volunteering, going out to cities and feeding homeless, or organizing a fundraiser to help those who are homeless and hungry on my state of Texas. Lastly, if I were to win Miss Texas USA, I would like to be an inspiration to others that may think they do not feel the "common mold" of what they want to pursue. I want to inspire others to go out and work for your dreams no matter what life may through at you.
What is your dream job (besides being Miss USA, of course!)
My dream job, besides being a USA queen, would be to one day be an owner of a daycare for low income or homeless families.
