Say hello to Charlie Muraski. Charlie will be competing for the title of Miss Idaho USA 2018! Last year she was 1st Runner Up so I am looking forward to seeing if she can capture the crown this time around! Below is her short interview I did with her.
How many pageants have you previously competed in?
4! I won Miss Idaho International 2014 then went to compete at Miss International. I also competed in the USA system, 2015 placed top 9 semi finalist/congeniality winner, 2016(last year) placed 1st runner up at Miss Idaho USA, this September I'll be competing for Miss Idaho USA 2018
What made you decide to compete in Miss Idaho USA 2018?
Miss Idaho USA has always been prestigious and when I decided to try my first year in 2015, I fell in love with the system, the sisterhood, and the directors! Idaho has continuously proven to be a wholesome and genuine state; I've never built more confidence and felt empowered before. The directors are phenomenal and run 3 other states as well, they continue to build all contestants regardless if they walk home with a title or not. The pageant community in this system truly is amazing and genuine. Especially when I lost my mom over pageant weekend--I can't thank them enough for their support, their guidance, and the staff even sent flowers a week later. Even after losing my mom the first year I competed in The USA system, it's held a close comfort to my heart.
Outside of competing in pageants, what do you like to do for fun?
If I'm not working out in the AM, studying and attending classes at BSU, or working nights, I enjoy cuddling with my Golden Retriever while watching Netflix with an awesome new series and War movies! (or of course shopping and eating haha)
Give a brief bio about yourself.
I grew up a military brat (Air Force baby) my whole life, even after my dad retired serving 25 years! I attend Boise State University in the heart of Idaho where we are known for our "Smurf Turf" blue field. After 5 years of Elementary Ed, 1 year of Secondary Ed, and a few minors, I'll be graduating right after my state pageant this December with a BA in History and Sociology! I'm a huge history nerd, trust me. I recently made the deans list with honors and am excited to find my big girl job, a History Teacher! (Hopefully 11th grade). After the sudden loss of my mom, I continued to go to school that semester and remaining semesters and even compete at my following pageant the next year to place 1st runner up. After an emotional whirlwind receiving the dreaded phone call the morning of pageant, she was rushed to the hospital on life support. Since then, I have remained optimistic in achieving everything I set my mind to. Her guidance and light has only proven it to be true with my small amount of accomplishments thus far! Lastly, I truly love volunteering with the local Non-Profit, #4TheAbility I have come to work with over the last few years. A good friend of mine created this for disabled kids to participate in the atmosphere of sports programs to bridge the gap of those who "can" and those who "cannot". It's taken off nationwide and I'm blessed to be apart of his team and volunteer endless hours to these kids as the Boise Marketing Rep!
If you win your state title, what do you hope to accomplish throughout your reign?
The biggest accomplishment I want during my reign is to reach the audience that is struggling to find themselves and build their self confidence everyday. I'm such a nurturer; I admire being able to role model for not just girls, but all kids. The stories I've been told give me that motivation to change the youths outlook and their ability to see their worth and their goals. It takes just one person to make a difference and I truly believe that. As a future educator of society, it's important for me to form those relationships and really aspire to help build our generations minds, souls, and esteem! Working with 4TheAbility has really helped me encourage and change lives everyday, I could imagine what it would be like to change their life as a role model like Miss Idaho USA. Traveling around Idaho to as many towns and cities as possible, seeing and doing great things, lending a hand is really the most rewarding job I could ever have, while building lifelong sisters and confidence. (oh and to walk across the Miss USA stage and win the prestigious title of Miss USA haha)
What is your dream job (besides being Miss USA, of course!)
Dream job is simple! I want to be a supportive and loving wife/mother who has a rewarding teaching career and an amazing support system that believes in me and wants to see me chase my dreams and goals! Oh, but first I'd love to explore Poland and majority of Western Europe! I want to be standing where history happened! Krakow the ghetto is a huge bucket list check off for me alongside majority of the concentration camps like Auschwitz-Birkenau and Sobibor! I've lived in Italy and traveled around some parts of Germany/Italy and even walked thru Dachau camp! I want to BE where history is made! :)
