How many pageants have you previously competed in?
I have previously competed for two years in the Miss America system. In 2017, I was crowned Miss Wyoming and given the opportunity to serve my state and compete at Miss America!
What made you decide to compete for Miss Wyoming USA 2020?
After my year as Miss Wyoming 2017, I immediately knew that I wanted to compete for the title of Miss Wyoming USA. I did so for the first time last year, and am so excited to be returning this year because I met so many incredible women last year! I love the empowering message of living a confidently beautiful life that Miss USA embodies, and it has ultimately been a lifelong dream of mine to compete at both Miss America and Miss USA. I would be so proud to represent Wyoming at both pageants!
Give a brief bio about yourself.
Outside of pageants, my favorite thing to do is anything with my puppy! I take him almost everywhere with me, and we love to go for walks or hikes. Another passion of mine is entrepreneurship, and as a business student, I also love my job at a new wedding venue! It has provided me with such valuable experience for my future that it hardly seems like a job, and I love going in to work and meeting with clients. Finally, I find so much freedom and peace through creative outlets like painting, writing, and pottery!
What do you like to do when you aren't competing in pageants?
Raised on a ranch in Sheridan, WY from the time I was 10 years old, I’m a Wyoming girl through-and-through! Currently, I attend the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY and am a senior studying Business Management with a focus in Entrepreneurship. In the future, I would love to own a wedding venue, like the one that I was able to help launch in Spearfish, SD this summer!
If you were to win your state title, what do you hope to accomplish throughout your reign?
If I am granted the honor of serving as Miss Wyoming USA 2020, I would love to continue expanding upon my work with the American Heart Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and other charities. Currently, I am a monthly blogger for the AHA, and am even traveling to Washington D.C. this fall to speak to members of Congress about issues such as childhood obesity, vaping, and tobacco laws. I have a huge heart for service and volunteering in general, and plan to be active in communities throughout the state as a representative- including speaking in schools around Wyoming for campaigns such as Jump Rope & Hoops for Heart. Furthermore, as a Type 1 Diabetic who was diagnosed randomly at age 13, I seek to educate and assist others with the physical, mental, and emotional side effects of the autoimmune disorder. I strongly believe that the people that you are able to meet and impact as a titleholder are the most important and rewarding part of this job. The title of Miss Wyoming USA would be a great platform to continue building upon this work, but these are ultimately passions of mine that I will advocate for throughout my lifetime; with or without a crown and title.
What is your dream job (besides Miss USA, of course)?
My dream job is becoming an entrepreneur- quite possibly in the wedding venue industry! I started my first business at the age of 16 and have parents who are both entrepreneurs- so I guess that’s where I get my entrepreneurial spirit from! I believe in the power of small business, and ultimately want to contribute back to my state. I would love to become the owner of a large chain of businesses someday, but also recognize that success is not always measured in money. I’m excited to see where my future with entrepreneurship takes me, and know that my strong work ethic will carry me through to the path I’m meant to take!
